Come and discover the contemplative beauty of Swallow Hill twenty minutes due west of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Your host and Nutmeg, the friendly Springer Spaniel, will welcome you to the casual and comfortable atmosphere. Situated on sixteen acres, the house sits on a slight rise at the edge of an open meadow where the swallows swoop in summer, and with expansive views towards the Berkshires.

In the hills above the Connecticut River Valley and within reasonable driving distance (30 minutes) to Amherst, Deerfield and the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, Swallow Hill is located in the scenic hilltown of Chesterfield, home of the Chesterfield Gorge, and its fine fishing. Perfect for a day trip to Tanglewood, Lenox or Mass Moca, with Jacobs Pillow on the way home, Swallow Hill will welcome you back to its gentle peace, quiet magic, and a feeling of home. SIMPLY SUMMER AT ITS BEST: Blue skies, sunny and warm days, and cool nights for sleeping making Swallow Hill the best place to be!

July 19, 2014

I think this is turning out to be one of the best Summers I've seen in years. It seems a bit like Camelot when it never rains until after sundown, and July and August cannot be too hot. I am using some poetic license to be sure, but I am enjoying it all so much this year.

The peas are popping and if you visit you will have them for breakfast, small juicy and beautifully sweet. I'm making lots of salads to take on picnics where I swim or kayak or simply hike a small mountain. So far its not been too hot and I hope I'm not speaking too soon.

Come and visit and enjoy the gardens, the ponds, the birds like this rose breasted grossbeak who visted the feeder during breakfast the other day. We have Tanglewood, dance at Jacobs Pillow, Williamstown Theatre as well as Chester Theatre and New Century in Northampton. So much to do, and summer is short. Come and vist and enjoy all that's going on here and the wonderful, magical space at Swallow Hill.
