Come and discover the contemplative beauty of Swallow Hill twenty minutes due west of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Your host and Nutmeg, the friendly Springer Spaniel, will welcome you to the casual and comfortable atmosphere. Situated on sixteen acres, the house sits on a slight rise at the edge of an open meadow where the swallows swoop in summer, and with expansive views towards the Berkshires.
In the hills above the Connecticut River Valley and within reasonable driving distance (30 minutes) to Amherst, Deerfield and the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, Swallow Hill is located in the scenic hilltown of Chesterfield, home of the Chesterfield Gorge, and its fine fishing. Perfect for a day trip to Tanglewood, Lenox or Mass Moca, with Jacobs Pillow on the way home, Swallow Hill will welcome you back to its gentle peace, quiet magic, and a feeling of home. Swallow Hill goes SOLAR!
Dateline November 17, 2013. This evening I was able to switch the switch and first thing on Monday morning, a bright, sunny day, Swallow Hill started generating its own SOLAR POWER. It's a heady feeling. And the excitement lasts and lasts. Talking to others who generate, I am told that this feeling does eventually dissipate after a couple of years. But oh what fun it is right now. You don't see the panels from the road, but perhaps you can find them on the long roof coming towards you in the photograph.
On another note, winter arrived this week. A very cold weekend and start to the Thanksgiving week. Inside though it is warm and cozy and the wood stove produces a lovely glow. Come and visit. Walk briskly through the woods. Watch the birds at the feeders. Have a cup of hot chocolate by the fire. Catch up on your reading and relax. Here at Swallow Hill, we still try to please and surprise, and make you feel right at home. Come see for yourselves. Email or call Swallow Hill for reservations.
