Come and discover the contemplative beauty of Swallow Hill twenty minutes due west of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Your host and Nutmeg, the friendly Springer Spaniel, will welcome you to the casual and comfortable atmosphere. Situated on sixteen acres, the house sits on a slight rise at the edge of an open meadow where the swallows swoop in summer, and with expansive views towards the Berkshires.

In the hills above the Connecticut River Valley and within reasonable driving distance (30 minutes) to Amherst, Deerfield and the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, Swallow Hill is located in the scenic hilltown of Chesterfield, home of the Chesterfield Gorge, and its fine fishing. Perfect for a day trip to Tanglewood, Lenox or Mass Moca, with Jacobs Pillow on the way home, Swallow Hill will welcome you back to its gentle peace, quiet magic, and a feeling of home. Summer disappeared, Fall was quite beautiful with gorgeous color, Thanksgiving came and went,  and now we have ice forming on the ponds and puddles. A different kind of beauty.

December 4, 2014

I find it hard to follow how the time disappeared this year. Summer was quite stunning with a Camelot feeling; July and August were not too hot, certainly the rain never fell 'til after sundown. But I am hoping for snow (we've had some already) for skiing. I walked today with Nutmeg and found this ice forming on a small piece of water at the DAR a great wild area near here. Come and visit. Enjoy the briskness and come back and sit by the fire. It's peaceful and quite and quite lovely.
